Our jobs can provide us with numerous psychological benefits. For example, it can give a person a feeling of accomplishment, which improves their self-esteem and achievement. It can also provide a person with a sense of connection through the relationships formed at work.

For many others, however, their job can also be a source of stress. For example, suppose you are working for a demanding manager or supervisor or feeling overwhelmed and undervalued in the workplace. In that case, your job can be making you feel tired, exhausted, and disengaged from the other parts of your life.

But there is one thing you can do to help address the Occupation part of your Wheel to prevent it from sabotaging everything else.

Address The Other Areas of PROMISE

When we are overwhelmed by something at work, one of the first things we do is to start neglecting the other areas that make our life meaningful and fulfilling. For example, we might neglect our relationships, health, hobbies, or some of our meditative and spiritual practices.

Yet, paying attention to these other areas can help remedy and minimize the stress from our jobs.

When you pay attention to the other parts of your Wheel – the different parts of your life – you are reconnecting with the very same activities that help you cope with stress and anxiety and which help to improve your mood.

When you reconnect with the other parts of your life that have nothing to do with work, you are indirectly telling yourself that your life is more than work; you are telling yourself that your life is fuller and more meaningful because you have a life outside of work.

Reconnecting with this truth can be another source of pride and improve self-esteem while also leading you to be more value-driven and intentional with work.

That’s what this week’s video is all about.

I hope this tip helps with this part of your life.
